What is FireMatcher?
FireMatcher is an Add-on for Firefox 3.x that offers you new way to search for plagiarized documents by analyzing local documents you select. Teachers easily find the original documents of their students' work. Researchers, journalists and other professionals find out if similar things to their unpublished documents already exist. This is also a great and convenient way to search for similar documents on the web without entering search queries.
How to use FireMatcher?
Step 1:
Simply select local documents from your desktop or contents from webpages.
Step 2:
FireMatcher will analyze them instantly and extract their most important terms and phrases. Local documents never leave your computer!
Step 3:
Then, FireMatcher will present you topically matching documents in the web.
This works for the formats .txt, .html, .pdf, .doc and .ppt. Selecting the documents is easy as well:
- Drag and drop local documents, selected texts from webpages or links from webpages to the FireMatcher icon
- Analyze local files, the currently shown webpage, selected text from webpages and documents in the clipboard from FireMatcher's main menu
- Analyze linked documents on webpages from the context menu
The results page will contain the most important phrases and terms (search keywords) from your analyzed document, an additional query input field for own query
